Name of your website?

Alison Hill - Fine Art

Your name?

Alison Hill

Your Location (city, etc)

Manchester

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The site is designed to display my artwork to potential customers and to art galleries. It includes a blog showing photos of works in progress and another with photos of my work in exhibitions.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I felt it would be a useful way to display my paintings when I contact galleries with the aim of interesting them is exhibiting my work. I can send them a few photos and direct them to my website if they would like to see more work.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My current site is my first website and it was launched round about a year or so ago.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name is more descriptive than inventive, it's simply my name and the words "Fine Art".

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I think the blog showing works in progress makes it a bit more interesting than sites simply displaying finished work as it gives an insight into the process. I also have a page with a collection of visual links to other contemporary artists' sites, all of whom I have "met" in online art forums. The visual link helps provide a little taster of each artists' work, and some of this work is in my opinion exceptionally good.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I haven't so far invested any money in my site as the site was designed using templates provided for free along with free hosting and customer support by the company Sitekreator. So far it has proved invaluable as the fact that I could so easily show all of my work to galleries has resulted in two galleries exhibiting my work this year, which in turn has resulted in some sales of my paintings. I only need to invest a little time each week into the site to keep it updated.

What is your website address?
