A number of us are probably aware of the story of Siddharta Gautama, more famously known as Buddha, and the story of how he managed to be enlightened and receive nirvana. According to stories, he saw enlightenment after meditating for many weeks under the shade of a bodhi tree.
So Christmas is not the only celebration symbolized by a decorated tree. In some other parts of the world, crafts that looked like bodhi tree are decorated with beads and other ornamentals to celebrate this enlightenment.
