B & T's Candles Interview

web interview B & T's Candles Interview
Name of your website?

B & T's Candles

Your name?

Brandon & Natasha Slaughterbeck

Your Location (city, etc)

Mulberry

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our website talks about our candles gives you all the information you should need to order any quantity of any scent we offer.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We are just a very small candle business and we are looking to expand our horizons and increase our business

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

our website was launched in May 2008

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It took us a while to decide on a name for our business we wanted something with our names but something to stand out also

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We have tried many many different types and brands of candles, when we designed our candles we made them burn longer and smell better than any other candle out there we had years of trial and error and we are still looking for ways to make them even better.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income?)

We love to do this and we plan to keep it. We are looking to earn a little extra income and are doing a little retirement planning.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Right now we are putting a lot more time into this than we get money coming in, it isn't all about the money, it is also about giving people quality products with a great price. There are people that sell candles cheaper but the quality isn't there.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would make it a alot nicer and would advertise more.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yeah, it would be a struggle but yeah and we would love every minute of it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None really...the worst thing is our costs are going up because it is costing our suppliers more money to get our products to us. As of now we are going to eat that extra price for as long as we can I don't want to raise our prices unless we absolutely have to.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge has been trying to beat the competition.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our website is still new we haven't really promoted it just wanting word of mouth to be our biggest seller.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Like I said our website is still new and we didn't really have any expectations to begin with.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The website isn't expensive I will keep it as long as it pays for itself which it should do no problem for years and years to come.

What is your website address?
