In a few more weeks, we'll be celebrating Chinese New Year once more, ready to welcome the arrival of the Year of the Tiger. Specifically, it is the Year of the Metal Tiger. Since white is the color of metal, we can also say that it is the Year of the White Tiger. Unfortunately, the white tiger has always been associated with jinxes across Chinese history, so it is not really surprising if superstitious Chinese people think that 2010 will be an even unluckier year.
The tiger, as we all know, is a solitary creature that represents vigor, strength, and courage. It is also said that there will be a lot of changes this coming 2010 in every sphere possible. For example, in politics, it is said that fresh but decisive faces will come out to rule countries or what-not. It's bound to be an interesting year.
Well whatever the future holds for you this coming New Year, there's no reason to do a little work of art that you can display at home. Why not try a tiger paper-bag puppet craft, for instance? Here's one of those little crafts, only waiting to get made by those creative hands.
It's far from becoming very difficult to accomplish, as well. All you will need are pieces of brown bag, some orange and black paint, markers, glue sticks, construction paper, and your pattern. Follow closely the instructions listed on that page in order to make your own tiger paper bag puppet.
With a little creativity, you can also make other animal-inspired puppets as well, using the same materials. These projects are mainly done for kids, so you might as well pull them in to help you with the job.
After you've already created your "zoo," it's time to start playing then. Maybe it would also be nice if you choose to create puppets made out of the 12 animals featured in Chinese zodiac
