web interview Oddolls.Net Interview
Name of your website?

Oddolls.Net

Your name?

Debbie Kirkpatrick

Your Location (city, etc)

Salt Lake City

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have been an artist in my community for over 15 years and I have been asked by several a buyer, freind and co-worker to put up a website with my dolls....so I finally did it

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website..launched April 2007 this year

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I make very odd dolls.

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Strange Polymer clay and Cloth dolls. Moth Babies,Grote Mond Dolls, Mourning Dolls, Vampires, Monsters, Angry little Minions..and More.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Just my little twisted twist of style I suppose.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I suppose to get my art out there in the world and share my art with all. To inspire other artists and to be inspired.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I am not sure I have an answer for that.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would definately make my studio larger.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Well, I only sell what I make... I would simply have to take orders and sell on first come first serve basis. But i would enjoy it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Using the wrong types of Clay..making an exceptional doll and having parts of it break off or flake...lesson well learned! Also learning to ship everything off on time and well packaged...its taken me 4 years of learning the rights and wrongs of that part of the business.

What has been your biggest challenge?

making dolls that will sell. Getting them shipped off at a reasonable time.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of Mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Lots and Lots of work sitting here on my behind.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

about 2 months, for as long as I can.

Where would I like to go with this website?

I would love to have my art in galleries worldwide and be well-known for my dolls and craftmanship and artwork.

What is your website address?

Oddolls.Net
