Connie's Hobby House Interview

By Interviewer at 03/30/08 14:00

Name of your website?

Connie's Hobby House

Your name?

Connie Gray

Your Location (city, etc)

Mesa

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This site is a place where you can go to get free ideas for making your own greeting cards, and eventually other hobbies.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

When making cards you tend to get into an "idea rut" so I went on the internet to find some card ideas but found very few. So I decided to make a site to give people a place where they can go to get ideas.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first web site and I put it up late in 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I wanted a site that would cover all of my hobbies, cards being my first one. Eventually I will have other pages like fish, watercolor, painted concrete floors, horses etc.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It is very organized and simple to use.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal for people to come and look at pictures of many different hobbies and get ideas that they can use for themselves.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have just started the promotion process so nobody really even knows my site exists.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would hire someone to make my site better.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Just the regular learning curve of building my first site and trying to promote it.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Promoting.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I just started so nothing yet.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is pretty much what I expected.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I put it up at the end of 2007 but only my friends go to it. But I really enjoy doing it and look forward to growing it. I will continue this site even if it doesn't become popular because I can use it as a personal archive for all of my hobbies.

Why do you have Ads by Google on your site?

I only put topic related adds on my site. I have even used some of them myself, and any money that I might make will go right back into my site and my hobbies.

What is your website address?

Connie's Hobby House
