Aside from custom-made Halloween costumes, your house can also do away with some Halloween ornaments decorated everywhere. Like the Halloween costumes on a budget, you don't have to spend much on ornaments, and the nice thing about them is that you can still reuse them next year.
For example, take a look at this article on homemade spider crafts. It only took a piece of styrofoam ball, pipe cleaners, and some black paint in order to come out with a Halloween ornament that is not necessarily spooky, but reflects the spirit of the festive day, nonetheless.
According to the aforementioned article, all you will need is a piece of styro ball, four chenille stems, black craft paint, a paint brush, wiggly eyes (it may be self-adhesive, or you can probably use some other material like buttons instead), glue, ribbons, pom poms, and a piece of wire.
The idea is pretty simple. First you will have to coat the styro ball with black paint. Make sure to skewer the ball on a stick first before painting because you are in for a great mess if you forget that. Let it dry. Then once it already is, you can already make a hook out of the piece of wire and stick it unto the styro ball, making it look like some black piece of a Christmas ball.
Afterwards, the chenille stems can be broken down in half to make eight legs for your styro spider. Stick them to the styro ball and bend them in such a way that they will look like actual spider legs. As for the eyes, first you will have to glue the pom poms unto the spot where you want the eyes to be in. Glue the wiggly eyes unto these pom poms. Finally, you can tie the ribbon around the hook and make a sturdy know. This can be used to hang the spider on your ceiling or somewhere similar. You could preferably use a white ribbon to mimic a spider yarn.
