Name of your website?

Butterfly Kisses Kreations

Your name?

Dawn Schipman

Your Location (city, etc)

Omaha

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The website consists of handmade candles and bath & body products as well as some extra items. (ie. incense, air fresheners)

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I am really interested in expanding my business to others that may not be familiar with us and I thought putting it out on the web would help.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I think it was about 3 years ago when I first launched a website. It was a small business that I had been thinking about. It involved decorated clay pots. That did not work out too well.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

2 things gave me my name for my website. My father used to play the song for me (butterfly kisses) and at the time I was living in Papillion, but didn't think Papillion Creations would sound as good.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

What makes us different is that all of our products are handmade. We never mass produce anything, so alot of times the colors might be off a little, and the scent might be strong in one candle compared to the other. We take pride in producing a quality product one at a time.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal with this company is to eventually be able to do this full time. This is something that I love to do everyday.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

At this point, whatever money I bring in from sells of my products go right back into the business. So there really is not a profit. I literally started this company on $50 and a dream.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If I had an unlimited development budget for my website. I would do some research and select the most creative person I could to develop a great website for me.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I may only be a one person business, but with the help of friends and family. I am sure that I could keep up with high demand.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Nothing

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge with the website itself is figuring out how to promote it and get it out there and listed.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Google and basic word of mouth.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I do realize there are ALOT of websites out there, but I figured that business would pick up a little more than it has.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

This site itself has been up for about 6 months. I have always had a site for this business. I will continue to always have a site. This is something I love and will not discontinue it because of lack of interest.

What is your website address?

Hi there! I was wondering if you needed more bottles. I have the same bottles that you have and I had to shut my business down. I just bought a bunch of bottle and now I can't use them. I will give you a REALLY good price. Let me know if you are intrested. I am located in Papillion.
