Kids Craft of the Month Club Interview

By Interviewer at 03/29/08 22:09

Name of your website?

Kids Craft of the Month Club

Your name?

Mindy Taylor

Your Location (city, etc)

Montgomery, AL

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Kids Craft of the Month Club.com is a club for children who will receive craft kits and other fun things in the mail each month. The craft kits include everything needed to complete one craft with the exception of glue and scissors. The mailings are tailored to your childs abilities, age, and interests. Each month is totally different so they will be surprised with every mailing. We offer 6 and 12 month Craft Club subscriptions and a Sticker Club. We also have Free Craft Projects on our webiste.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

As I child I have fond memories of a Craft Club that my Mom enrolled me in. Now that I have children, I wasn't able to find the same sort of thing that I had when I was a child.

Crafts not only help your child learn to follow instructions, but it also helps with their fine motor skills and allow the parent to spend some quality time with their child without having to gather all of the items needed to complete a craft.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I wanted to name it exactly what it was in hopes that people would be able to find us.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We offer more that just craft kits. Each month is a totally different surprise. We also tailor each month's mailing to the child depending on their age, interests and abilities.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would love to be able to do this full time when my children are in school. I do not want to have to get a "REAL" job when my children do begin school. I want to have flexibility to spend the time I need with my children.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Right now, my main investment is time. To be successful, it is necessary for me to make the Kids Craft of the Month Club stand out from the others. The biggest asset I have to give to my company is me and my time. I know it will be successful with enough hard work.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would not change the development, but marketing is my main issue. I do not have funds to market the Club as I would like.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Absolutely, I have a great system in place that is well thought out. Growth will not be an issue.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Problems with web hosting is the only problem we've encountered so far.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting the website how I had envisioned it.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I have not figured that out yet....I'll let you know when I figure it out.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Running the website has not been a problem. There have been delays in receiving emails and things of that sort.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I am not giving up on something I believe in. It just has to be successful, it's my dream.

What do you hope to achieve by filling out this long questionaire?

I hope some great miracle happens and I suddenly am listed first in every search engine on the internet and the business really takes off and every one of my dreams come true...what do you think the odds of that are?

What is your website address?
