Today, everyone is trying to do things to better our environment and save money at the same time. Here is a craft that you can do with your kids that will save paper and put money in your pocket. Try switching to cloth napkins. Buy a plain color so you and your kids can make napkin rings that will suit any color napkin. I like solids the best so they do not clash with the fun designs your kids make.
All you need is napkins, craft foam, scissors, Sticky foam alphabet letters or shapes, Permanent Markers, string, and a hole punch. To do this craft, first cut a 1-1/2 inch by 5 inch piece of foam. You can use regular scissors or sometimes I like to use the scissors that cut the fancy edges. using the hole punch, make a hole at the end of each strip. Use the markers and foam letters to decorate the rings. Then just use a little piece of string or ribbon to tie the ends together and voila...a napkin ring.
Go crazy with letting the kids make their own designs. When they help set the table they will feel like they really helping with their homemade rings. We like to make special ones for holidays too. It is fun to save the environment, money and have a good time all at once.
