Pampered Scrapper Interview

Name of your website?

Pampered Scrapper

Your name?

Kaaren Brand

Your Location (city, etc)

Chickasha

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We feature a detailed directory of scrapbook clubs for kits, cardmaking and projects. We also have reviews, discounts and giveaways.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We live out in the country, all scrapbook stores are about an hour away. I was a member of about 3 clubs, looking for a fourth. I realized the only listing of clubs didn't have any of the info I needed to make my decision. Pampered Scrapper was born!

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

pamperedscrapper.com is my first website!

How did you decide on a name for your website?

My hubby and I brainstormed for about 3 days trying different combinations of words. Nothing could be more pampering for a scrapper than to have someone else do all the hard work of putting everything together, then mailing it to you, so all you have to do is scrap!

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Our site is pretty unique, I have seen a few that just list the company names. Or it is a ranking site.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal with this site is to help other scrappers, enjoy a variety of scrapbooking products, and interact with people. I am a SAHM, and I enjoy it, but my house was getting too clean, and my little one is starting school.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

The money to start this was minimal, just mainly my time. The harder I work, the better my site will be. I have gotten a huge response already on how helpful my site is.

If you had an unlimited budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would do a professional site and logo. I would also like a form to fill out for scrappers, where they could select criteria, and the response would be the kit that best fits their needs.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I am not selling anything, so besides people using the directory and discounts, demand away! I may be in trouble with keeping up with my reviews, I keep adding info.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None so far! I keep adding content for the site. Originally, I had just planned on kit clubs.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Gathering all the information on over 100 sites, I am still workin!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Currently, message boards.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I didn't realize how fun it was to have people suggest an idea for my site, and put a plan into action.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Well, my site is purchased for 5 years, and I don't really see how it wouldn't be popular. After 5 years, I may plan on going to a site designer, and having sponsers.

Thank you very much for this service! I enjoyed thinking of my answers. Many big smoochies to the editors and the mastermind behind your site!

What is your website address?
