Paper&Glue Interview

By Interviewer at 04/02/08 08:47
Name of your website?

Paper&Glue

Your name?

Hailey

Your Location (city, etc)

South Lyon

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our website lists classes, events, projects and creative ideas related to scrapbooking, altered arts, and paper crafts.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To have a place for my customers, clients, and friends to see where I will be teaching and some of my latest products. As well as have a place where they can purchase some of the items I used to create my projects.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched my website in Jan 07 and it was www.paper-and-glue.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I just said it one day and it "stuck" ha ha ha.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We focus on our local community and getting together to share ideas to make it more personal. Instead of posting our projects & layouts solely on the internet we scrapbook together!

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would love to have a book and to teach internationally. Right now I am trying to teach locally at as many events as possible and to teach at a few events and conventions out of town. I really enjoy sharing my ideas and new techniques.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

This is strictly self fulfillment at this point.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would have a gallery and online video classes

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I would hope so. If not I have a couple of people that could help.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I have not had too many. The only headache is remembering all the passwords needed for every site.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Trying to drive new local people to my site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

None so far. I figured I would wait a year to really push it. Now I am ready to go for it.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have run it for just over a year. I will run it until I quit scrapbooking which will be never!

What do people look for in a website?

I think people want an easy to look at page that is simple to navigate.

What is your website address?

Paper&Glue
