They help my business but to get your name with prominent listings takes time, energy and patience.

Searching various scrapbook messageboards, building and email contact list and running weekly promotions and specials has been most successful.

Inspiration Alley Interview

altered art Inspiration Alley Interview
Name of your website?

Inspiration Alley

Your name?

Terrie Knibb

Your Location (city, etc)

Birmingham

When did you start your website and why?

This is a newly established website that has only been running for 3 weeks. We started it because although there are a lot of scrapbook challenge websites about, most are quite prescriptive. We wanted to encourage people to think for themselves and develop their individuality. By showing how we get our inspiration and convert it into a finished product, we hope to inspire others to develop their imagination and creativity.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

A site devoted to prompts, competitions, challenges and instructional classes for scrapbooking, altered art and photography.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Making people aware of its existence has been the hardest part of establishing the site.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

We have lots of ideas, the difficulty has been finding sufficient time to create sufficient examples to place them on the site, so the establshment of all our plans has been somewhat slower than we would have liked.

What was your biggest mistake?

Our biggest mistake was having too many people involved at the start. This created conflicting ideas and we found it difficult to move forwards.

Who maintains your website and why?

The web site is maintained by the owner, simply because it is financially the only possible solution at present.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I believe that in the future most of life will be undertaken via the internet. My son is already educated via a virtual school and I think that this will be the way forward.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Since it's a newly established site, it's only just starting to show up on search engines so I can't really answer.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

The most successful means of promoting our site has been by word of mouth, achieved by mentioning it in threads of forums of relevant interest groups.
