Please give us a short summary of your website?
We are an online scrapbooking store that offers personal scrapbook design, premade gifts and a monthly kit club. Each kit will feature 10 double sided sheets of scrapbook paper, alphabet stickers, rubons or chipboard, 4 embelishments, 3-4 ribbons and a project that can be altered into a home decor item or a mini album.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have had a really hard time finding scrapbook stores near me that carried the newest released products. Plus I have to drive an hour just to get to a decently size scrapbook store. It became frustrating after a while. I want to offer others like me the oppertunity to get the latest and greatest products without having to leave the comfort of their home.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Scrapping 365 is our first website and we just launched it the 1st of October, 2007.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Every scrapbooker wishes they could scrap every day of the year. I was jotting ideas down and was playing with the image of a calendar and that's when it hit me that Scrapping 365 would be the perfect name. We provide scrapbookers with the oppertunity of having scrapbook supplies delivered to their door so they can spend more time scrapbooking.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Our kit clubs are different because we offer an alterable project with each kit. These projects will range from home decore, mini albums or gift items. October's kit features Cosmo Cricket's Lacing Cards which can be used to make a home decor item or a mini album.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our goal is to provide scrapbookers with a kit full of the hottest new products and ideas.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Scrapbooking is something I love and if I can help others continue to do what they love with less effort then the investment is worth it.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If we had an unlimited development budget I would love to hold a booth at all the scrapbooking conventions and trade shows so that I could reach more scrapbookers.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
If our site got really big, really quickly that would be wonderful and yes we would be able to keep up with the demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
We haven't really had to deal with unexpected costs yet but it is difficult finding the balance between purchasing product and finding effective advertising.
What has been your biggest challenge?
At this point I would say that finding the best way to advertise has been our biggest challenge.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
The company is too early to honestly answer this question.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I don't believe that I have had anything differ from my expectations with running the website.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Our site has only been up for about a month as we worked out the kinks and worked on getting product. We launched it to the public the first of October, 2007. As long as the business is bringing in a profit we will keep the site running, even if it means we're not bringing in a huge profit.
How long have you been scrapbooking?
I have been scrapbooking since I was seven although back then my scrapbooks consisted of yarn, construction paper and glue.
