Embellish-It Scrapbooking Interview

By Interviewer at 04/08/08 04:34

Name of your website?

Embellish-It Scrapbooking

Your name?

Donna

Your Location (city, etc)

Olds

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We are an Alberta Online Scrapbooking store providing you with all your scrapbooking needs, including all the latest products from top suppliers. Specializing in Embellishments.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I found that it began as a hobby and inspired me to make it a home business.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

March 2005 and it was www.embellish-it.ca

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We decided on the name because we specialized in Embellishments.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Being that we are online we are able to promote and sell our product at reduced prices.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it for income and enjoy meeting others who share the same special hobby as me.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have invested a lot of time/money but have found it is worth it all in the end.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would do more search engine optimization to advertise my site more.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

By hiring more staff and purchasing higher amounts of product.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

A big problem is when my customers order more product than I have on hand, it is disappointing for us both.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting the site advertised.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Google advertising

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is much harder than expected.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

3 years and more to come.

Why do you do what you do?

Because I love this industry and it's customers.

What is your website address?

Embellish-It Scrapbooking
