Name of your website?

Red Eft Designs

Your name?

Amanda

Your Location (city, etc)

Portland

Please give us a short summary of your website?

My website is a shopping cart for all of my handmade items, and my three main mediums are silk, silver, and polymer clay, although i am adding more items every day.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I wanted to seel my items all the time, not just at craft shows.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

About 2 years ago, and it has been the same web address in the works ever since.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I have a page about it on my website called "what's an eft?" because most people don't know what a Red Eft is, but I used to see them all the time in the woods and I just think they're awesome.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Because I make such a wide variety of items. I think most people take one medium, one type of item and go with it. I do that with every craft I can get my hands on.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would love to make a living selling my handmade items.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far, i haven't had too many people buying on my website, but since i have recently added a shopping cart I hope it will change for the better.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would try to have much better photos and a background I could completely customize to make my own.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

oh, definately. I have so many things made already and would love to devote all my time to making them.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

not too much really. although html code is tricky to learn.

What has been your biggest challenge?

waiting for the orders to come in...there is so much stuff out there that it is hard to get people to look, much less to buy.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

being a featured artist on the dharma trading co. website.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

i thought it would be alot more work, but i need more orders first.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

i have run it for about 2 years and I will continue no matter what.

What is your website address?
