Please give us a short summary of your website?
At our website you can view and purchase our hand poured Soy Candles. We also offer information regarding soy candles. I try to keep it simple, I want people to be comfortable when visiting us, not get confused by a lot of clutter.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We started out by consigning our candles at local stores. Everyone loved them so much that I knew we had a winner on our hands. The next logical step was to launch a website.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This was our first website. we launched it a couple of weeks ago.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
That wasn't easy. I needed to find a name that was availible as a domain name in case I ever wanted to start a website (good thing I thought ahead). I wanted it to reflect a laid back country feeling but country candles was already taken. My loving wife's name is Lynn, so I decided on Lynn's Country Candles.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Well, I love making soy candles with a passion, and I'm a perfectionist. So I've gone through a lot of different materials to find the perfect formula for the perfect candle. I also try to use humor on my website. Look at my products page and read some of the descriptions. Some of them are funny. I want visiting my website to be fun and informative.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I want to keep growing my business so I can keep doing what I love to do.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I feel that the more you put into something, the more you get back. It's not just about money, it's about commitment to my customers. My motto is: Make your customers happy, and the money will follow.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I don't think I would change anything. I like starting small because I'm able to connect easier with my customers.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I would be able to keep up. I still have a lot of untapped resources at my disposal.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not many. As I said, I started small, actually I started from a hobby, and I grew slowly. So it hasn't been too bad.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Making people see what a great product we have. But once they know, they keep coming back.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I bought a book called "Search Engine Optimaization for dummies" And it's helping so far. But I'm also getting the word out with friends and relatives and they're telling their friends and relatives and so on and so on... Plus I hope every one who reads this will check us out.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I love it. I feel like I have such control over my success.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Our site has only been up a couple of weeks but I hope it last forever.
Why should people buy your candles?
Because I personally make sure every candle we sell is of the upmost quality. We are very customer oriented. We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction. Check us out. You won't be sorry!
