Stamp and Scrap Clubhouse Interview

By Interviewer at 03/07/08 20:50

Name of your website?

Stamp and Scrap Clubhouse

Your name?

Bettina Kleinhenz

Your Location (city, etc)

Cincinnati

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Designed to keep Club Members up to date with all the exciting happenings at the Clubhouse. It is to entice others into creating over the top stamping and scrapbooking adventures with us- parties (birthday, showers, anniversary, Girl's Night Out, classes on techniques, beginning classes of stamping and scrapbooking,Gift & Card making.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The need to communicate to a larger audience. To reach the computer savy audience.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Nov 2006, same site, just a different look. It was very rough and harsh looking. Now it is more friendly and warm to look at.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name follows our business name.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Our business is like no other in the entire country. We are the first to offer Memberships to people who love to stamp and or scrap to use our supplies. We use cardstock as currency to purchase things in the Clubhouse: ribbon, eyelets, brads, accessories.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to reach 200 members then start a new one.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Because I am on such a huge learning curve as far as the website is concerned. It has taken me hours and hours to create and recreate. It probably would have been more adventagous to hire someone-BUT not as fun.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would definetly hire someone to really make the website POP. I would spend LOTS of money in advertising on the web as well as radio, papers, TV

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I think maintaining the demands of this website would not be too difficult because the interaction with clients is limited to their emailing us directly.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I lost the entire program the first time I created in-it uploaded into the abiss and I did not save it first, so I sent the original.DUH!

What has been your biggest challenge?

Building each text box!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Mass emails, connecting with other websites.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I was surprised at how long it takes to actually create each page.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It has been up for a little over a year. Hopefully it will coincide with our business and run forever!

What is the purpose of the Clubhouse?

My partner and I wanted to create a cooperative environment of stampers and scrapbookers. Each of us tends to spend potentially $1000s for supplies. Our idea was to create a place where we would share the more expensive things we have purchased with others. Crafters would pay for a membership to be a part. They would be able to create more and spend less. We would teach classes to those that need help or would like to increase their knowledge. We would provide a place that is chuck full of ideas and inspiration.
