Words of Wisdom Vinyl Lettering & Crafts Interview

By Interviewer at 12/15/08 11:05

Name of your website?

Words of Wisdom Vinyl Lettering & Crafts

Your name?

Megan and Leigh Patterson, Owners

Your Location (city, etc)

Kuna

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our website contains ideas as well as finished products. There are many pictures, quote ideas as well as fonts and vinyl colors available.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

My husband, Leigh and I started this vinyl lettering business as a side job. My husband is a high school teacher and I work part time at a dentist office. We launched our website to give our customers a place to go and look for ideas or to be able to easily contact us about what they wanted to order.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is our first website and we started it about a year ago. We have been updating and adding to it ever since.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We decided of Wowvinylletters.com because WOW is short for Words of Wisdom and vinyl letters. to describe our product.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to continue to grow as a small family business. We work at it part time and enjoy it so it isn't so much work as it is a hobby for us.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Again we enjoy coming up with new ideas and trying new things. Our investment of time and money has been rewarded by us being able to spend quality time togather and be able to work side by side.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If I had an unlimited development budget I would make my site a lot bigger and user friendly. We would put a lot more for sale items on the site as well.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I think we would be able to keep up with the demand and be able to meet the needs of our customers. We have enough resources to pull from to be able to fulfill orders and meet the demands.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge has been getting the word out about us. We have mostly spread our business through word of mouth which has brought in business but it also has been sporadic at times.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our most successful way to promote our site has been through links from facebook and a couple blogs.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We will continue to keep up our website for as long as we own our business.

How do you balance work and family?

We have a young family with two children a four year old and a two year old. It is challenging to balance but has been a lot of fun trying to have our two kids help out as much as possible whether it be designing or helping hold tape as we finish orders. We always try to not let work take us awy from our family time.

What is your website address?
