Use Regular Craft Items for Making Halloween Decorations

By Jesse at 10/07/08 20:29

Everyone is a little short on money now a days so why not make decorating easy on yourself and use things that you already have. If you are an avid scrapbooker, there is one thing that I am sure you have. The scissors that make the fancy edges. Well those are great for decorations too!

Use regular construction paper and who knows what you can create. My kids actually like to make 'halloween snowflakes'. They actually were supposed to be like spiderwebs but we used the fancy scissors and they kind of turned out more like snowflakes, but we like them. In any case, the scissors are great for all kinds of decorations.

Fall is A Great Time for Recipies

By Jesse at 10/03/08 21:55
I am not sure why, but this time of year always seems the time that I get the best recipes. I'm not sure if it is so close to the holidays or what but I love it. I love to cook and I am always looking out for something new. Sometimes it is hard to get all of the recipes I have organized, so I came up with a system.

I use notecards, just regular ones that you can get at any office supply store, and I punch a hole in the corner and thread them on to pretty ribbon. I keep them separated by type of food. Like side dishes are all tied together with a yellow ribbon and desserts are held together with blue. It keeps me organized and helps when I want to find a specific recipe to make or give to someone else. The note cards are convenient because I can just jot down the recipie for a friend and they won't have to transfer it themselves.

Literature Sorters are a Crafters Best Friend

By Lilly at 10/03/08 21:51
If anyone out there is like me when it comes to crafting, you will understand my pain. I am just not an organized person. I love to make cards and homemade gifts for friends and family and scrapbooking is a favorite hobby of mine, but I can never find anything. But get this, I did muster up one ounce of organizational skill when I used old literature sorters to store supplies!

For scrapbooking, I have so many different kinds and colors of paper and I thought that the tiered literature sorters that you use on a desk would be great! Now I use them for stickers and cardstock as well. Actually now that I think about it, I may go and get another for my stamps and ink pads. They work for storage of so many things! They are also great for projects that are in process because you can just slip them in the trays and they don't get damaged or parts don't get lost! I just love them. Try them if you are incapable of organizing like I am!

Move Supplies with Ease

By Lilly at 10/01/08 15:42
I like to do crafts out on my sunporch in the summer where it is warm and breezy, but it is a pain for me to make multiple trips to carry all of my supplies out there. I would always end up leaving something behind and have to run back mid-craft to get it. Luckily, I found an old media cart that has eliminated my problem.

We used to use this cart to store our printer and scanner in the computer room but when we got a new desk for my husband's home office, we decided we no longer needed the cart. After it sat in the garage for months, I decided to put it to good use. I organized all of my crafting stuff on the cart so I could roll it with me where ever I decided to go! I worked out great. I love it when I can find other uses for seemingly useless stuff.

Sea Shell CD Cases are great for beads

By Denise Carll at 10/01/08 15:37
I know some kids that go to my church that are really in to making beaded friendship necklaces and bracelet for each other. One thing that I noticed, is the variety of beads that they used. There really are some pretty colors and shapes. Another thing that I noticed is that parents really don't like all of the beads all over the place. In the carpet and in the kids' rooms, it seems like they are everywhere.

I found a solution though. I had some extra CD sea shell cases that I was planning to sell in a garage sale but decided to give them to the children to use to sort and store their beads. They loved them and the parents were very greatful for the solution!
